This is a full frame-off and professionally restored, 100% numbers matching Firebird 400 hardtop that has been carefully restored to “as new” condition.  If you’ve been searching for a no excuse Firebird 400, this is your chance to get a top-notch Firebird that’ll bring home a trophy at the next Pontiac Nationals.

This car started life in California and spent the majority of the next forty-five years there.  The frame-off restoration was performed by well-know restorer Dick Lackey in 2005. Once completed the car has only accumulated approximately 100 miles, mostly to make sure that everything works correctly or going to Pontiac car shows.

The car was completely disassembled and stripped to bare metal.  The sub-frame was removed and the entire drivetrain was rebuilt.  The body of this vehicle still wears all the original sheet metal and the body fit is laser straight and better than new.  Once the body was prepared, it was given a fresh coat of the correct and popular Verdoro Green (code QQ), using the best modern DuPont base coat clear-coat paint.  The subframe was also stripped and all
chassis components were replaced and refinished in the correct original factory finishes.

While the engine was out of the car, it was sent out and completely rebuilt.  The original 400 engine was bored 30 over and new pistons, rings and bearings installed. The crank was checked and lightly refinished.  The cylinder heads were checked and given a valve job, along with new valves and valve springs.  Everything was reassembled and the entire engine assembly was given a coat of the correct Pontiac silver-blue engine paint.   The original bumpers were stripped and double-chrome show plated.  All the exterior emblems were replaced with either new or NOS pieces.

No stone was left unturned and the interior was completely redone with nothing but the best of correct materials.  All instruments and gauges were checked for operation and repaired or replaced, if necessary.  All wire harnesses were replaced with new.  The restoration on this Firebird is
100% “factory correct”, right down to the T-3 headlamps and original style
Firestone redline tires.

Since completion the Firebird has received numerous prestigious awards including: the 2007 Pontiac-Oakland Club Senior Gold points judging of 397 out of 400 points, the 2008 AACA National Senior Award First Place, 2008 AACA Grand National First Place, 2008 “Best of Show” at the Great Lakes Regional Firebird Gathering and First in Class at Ames Performance Tri-Power Nationals.
