Originally ordered by a gentleman in Lincoln, Nebraska to race and came with all the available performance equipment available from Pontiac Division, including the Tri-Power engine “WS”, close ratio 4-speed transmission, heavy duty 3.90:1 Safe-T-Track axle, heavy duty fan, metallic brakes and transistor ignition. It was also ordered without a radio and still wears the factory radio delete plate on the dash.  It was sponsored and raced by the selling dealer Vanice Pontiac, in Lincoln and competitively raced from 1965-1970.

The car then sat until 1975 when the car was sold to a Jim Hogrefe, who removed the dealer lettering from the quarter panels and continued to race the car until 1980.  Again the car sat from 1980 and was infrequently driven until 2002 when it was sold to Roy Dukes who kept the car until 2004 when it was sold to Thomas Kleinhardt who restored the car with a frame-off restoration back to factory “new” condition in 2006.

Over time the transistor ignition proved not to be dependable and was removed in favor of a much more dependable correct point-type factory Pontiac distributor. The 3.90:1 ring and pinion has also been removed and a more streetable 3.55:1 Safe-T-Track assembly installed.  However, the original 3.90:1 axle housing and stampings are still with the vehicle.

We have signed certificates from all owners as to the dates and events surrounding this interesting GTO and of course all the PHS paperwork.

This vehicle still wears all the original body panels and gorgeous undercarriage from having led this much pampered life.  The correct Nightwatch Blue paint shines beautifully and the blue bucket seat interior is in excellent condition, as well.

We were told that the 389/360hp engine, code “WS”, was rebuilt at the time of restoration in 2006 and runs flawlessly.  The same is true for the 4-speed transmission.

The car has just finished a recent freshening and service.  It is ready to be used and enjoyed or put in your collection.  This car is a rare find, with an interesting and documented history.  A great addition to any car collection!!
